Finding beauty in the forgotten and magic in the mundane
About Jacqueline
Born in Japan and raised in the swampy Lowcountry of South Carolina, Jacqueline writes stories about outsiders searching for belonging, the weight of family legacies, and the way places shape us. Her work blends history, mystery, and a touch of everyday magic—often with a gothic twist, yet always leaving room for hope.
She explores these themes on her Substack, COLLECTING DUST, where she shares fiction inspired by forgotten objects and the beauty in the overlooked.
A former English teacher to refugee and immigrant students, Jacqueline deeply values storytelling as a way to connect across cultures. She studied French and Japanese language and culture at university and hopes to weave these influences into future novels.
She is currently working on her debut novel, a dual timeline Southern family saga with a mystery at its heart, set in North Carolina, where she now lives with her husband and two children. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her upcycling antique furniture or improvising meals from whatever’s left in the fridge while jamming to Rammstein, Taylor Swift, or old jazz records.
